Testimonials
My thanks to Erin and Katie for doing such a wonderful job on your books! "My surgery journal" was just what Kennedy needed to find her courage and work through her emotional and physical health during the time surrounding her surgery. I am so glad she had her journal!!! Many thanks and blessings!

I have been using your pain chart with great success. Sunday, my daughter was stung by something. I had to give her an EpiPen and we were taken to the hospital by an ambulance. The nurse asked her if she is in pain she said "no" I showed her your pain scale and she picked number 4 (Maddie).
Thanks again, Cindy - Columbus,OH
I would like a special thank you to Erin Coss who found a way to get a book, "My Surgery Journal", to Megan the night before her surgery. For anyone who knows of a child needing to go through any type of procedure, this journal is a fantastic idea. It is an easy way for the child to communicate their emotions and anxieties - a huge help not only for the child but their family as well. Thank you Erin!

The Ouch Patrol is a colorful group of kids geared to relate to children struggling from an illness. Each Ouch Patrol kid understands what it is like to be afraid and in pain. When a child who is under the weather has a figure they can relate to it can open avenues of communication and inspire hope. Here are six kids created to comfort a sick child in need.
BEN lives with autism. That means that his five senses do not work like other children's do. Ben has a special helper called an Occupational Therapist that teaches him how to use his senses. He has to eat special foods and takes a lot of vitamins. He loves to play with puzzles and is great at reading.
JOEY has Asthma. He has to carry an inhaler with him wherever he goes in case he has a difficult time breathing. Joey has to go to the emergency room to receive breathing treatments when his breathing gets too bad for his inhaler. Joey focuses on his school work and watching his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.
LUCY'S heart beats to a different drum. She was born with a heart defect that causes her heart to beat differently than other kids. Lucy is awaiting an operation that will allow her to feel better. Until then she loves to read and spends time with her pet hamster, Freddy.
CHRISTIAN has leukemia. He is tired a lot and bruises easily.Christian currently has hair but he lost it for a while when he was receiving chemotherapy treatments. Christian also has to take medication that makes his stomach upset. He loves basketball and listening to music on his MP3 player.
MADDIE has a disease called Cystic Fibrosis. This means that her lungs have to work harder than most kids do. She goes to the hospital every year to receive a "tune up", which is not very fun but usually makes her feel better. Maddie enjoys drawing pictures of her favorite things, Teddy Bears and Disney World.
ZACH has Diabetes. His pancreas doesn't work as well as it should. He has to watch what he eats and has to have shots every day to make him feel better. Zach wants to be a movie star when he grows up. When he watches of his favorite show's he pretends to be the star.

About
k 2 e Books, Inc.
k 2 e books is the collaborative effort of sisters Katie Kinsella and Erin Coss. Established in 2006, k 2 e Books, Inc. is a company focused on the spiritual and emotional health of children during times of illness. Inspired by a friend's tonsillectomy, Katie created a journal to help him deal with his emotions during his operation; thus, she wrote the first book, My Surgery Journal. Katie solicited Erin's help in the formal creation of the book and during this time, The Ouch Patrol came to be. Realizing the importance of books serving the spiritual and emotional needs of sick children, Katie and Erin continue to create journals and books to inspire healing within little ones. Children can easily relate to the kids featured in The Ouch Patrol and can effectively share emotions with their parents and medical providers. With biblical scripture and applications, k 2 e books fulfills its mission statement: Uplifting Spirits When You're Sick.

Katie Kinsella
Diagnosed with chronic asthma at the age of 10, Katie knows the struggles children deal with as they live with chronic illnesses. Hospitalized with her first attack, she experienced the fear and uncertainty of what lie ahead for children suddenly diagnosed with a disease. Katie decided when she was old enough she would pursue a career as a respiratory therapist. Katie knew in respiratory care, she could help others dealing with many of the same health issues that she has. She graduated in 2003, and has been practicing as a Registered Respiratory Therapist since. With experience in both hospitals and home care, Katie's background in medicine and her love of children provide the passion needed to see kids heal through k2e Books.
